Used to be there was hardcore, grindcore, and even rapcore. Now all of these types of music are called nu metal. I remember when I was younger they labeled everything alternative that was hard rock and it got to be redundant.

well the problem lies with mtv. they want to classify and label everything. and they dont really have a clue. on a show like "The Return of Rock" they showed an Xzibit video. That's not rock, that's rap. Do you think they would've shown a slayer video during Yo!! Mtv Raps back in the day? I would hope not..

just like the "hair bands" anything from the 80's is categorized as a hair band, even if they didnt have the same formula. with the many different mutations and mixing of different genres, i dont think the media really knows what to do. a band like Nickelback is considered "Hard rock", and a band like Poison, i have actually seen in the metal bins in rock stores. But, yet pantera and metallica are in the pop section.. what's wrong with that logic?

I've never heard someone call a grindcore band nu/metal. They need to be slapped for pure stupidity.

Most of what is called hardcore (Poison The Well, From The Autumn To Ashes, Hopesfall, etc) are actually closer to nu/metal bands than they are hardcore bands.
