Mixing Irony With Icarus
The Dillinger Escape Plan are currently in the studio mixing their upcoming new EP "Irony Is A Dead Scene". The effort, which features vocals from Mike Patton of Faith No More/Mr. Bungle fame, is expected out in mid to late August through Epitaph and songs set to show up on it include:
"When Good Dogs Do Bad Things"
"Pig Latin"
"Holly Wood Squares!"
In other news, the band are also planning on releasing a split EP with The Icarus Line in the near future through Jade Tree. More information is expected shortly. For now, a few new U.S. dates have been announced, they are as follows:
April 25th Boston, MA - Axis
April 26th Augusta, ME - The Edge
April 27th Syracuse NY - Armory High

Fire In The Chamber Again
Although no official confirmation has been released as of yet, it appears as though Coal Chamber have once again split up. The bands recent show in Lubbock, TX this past Wednesday was cut short around 4 songs in after tensions between band guitarist Meegs and band frontman Dez Fafara boiled over and Meegs allegedly hit Dez in the head with his guitar. This prompted Dez to walk off the stage only to return and announce that "this is the last coal chamber show ever," before once again leaving. The remaining members of the band tried to continue on with Meegs on vocals, however they quickly gave up and the set ended with band drummer Mikey trashing his drum set. Not surprisingly, the band were not present at last night's April 18th Oklahoma City stop of the tour and it was allegedly announced from the stage that the band had broken up and would not be performing on anymore of the dates. Dez and Meegs are long rumored to have had a history of in fighting, a relationship which is said to have erupted into a fist fight that brought about the temporary split of the band at a June 2000 NY gig of the "No Home" tour, causing the group to cancel their stint on the Tattoo The Earth bill. The band then took some time off before eventually deciding to regroup. Despite their current situation, their upcoming new album "Dark Days" is still set for a May 07th release through Roadrunner/Island/Def Jam.
This is not good at all.. and the new album isn't even out yet!
