X-ecutioners Continue Their 'Audible Odyssey' With Linkin Park

"With a lot of videos you see girls with bikinis and cars. With this, it was just us being ourselves." X-ecutioners' Rob Swift

They've recorded with Xzibit, Everlast, Inspectah Deck and the late Big Pun, yet the best career move turntablist collective X-ecutioners ever made was hooking up with Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda and turntablist Mr. Hahn for "It's Goin' Down," the first single from their second album, Built From Scratch.

The combustive cut features a fist-pumping beat, buzzsaw guitar samples and, of course, a dizzying array of scratching from all four X-ecutioners Rob Swift, Roc Raida, Mista Sinista and Total Eclipse and Hahn. But it's Shinoda who boosts the energy level to critical mass with percussive rhymes that deftly describe the colossal collaboration: "The combination of a vocal caress with lungs that gasp for breath from emotional stress/ The logical progression on a timeline, the separation narrowed down to a fine line/ To blur the edges 'til they blend together properly/ Take you on an audible odyssey."

The song's energy output is greater than the sum of its parts, ranking right up there with Aerosmith and Run-DMC's version of "Walk This Way" and Anthrax and Public Enemy's rendition of "Bring the Noise." As brilliant a marketing move as "It's Goin' Down" is for X-ecutioners, the group wasn't thinking about mainstream exposure when it placed the first calls to Linkin Park early last year.

Here To Film

Korn are now set to shoot the video for their new single, "Here To Stay", in Los Angeles, CA tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26th. The Hughes Brothers have been tapped to direct. The track is the first single off of the bands upcoming new album, "Untouchables", which is expected out on May 14th through Immortal/Epic, though recent rumors circulating suggest that the album may be delayed to a later release date.

Enterjune

Soulfly have now set a tentative June 25th release through Roadrunner/Island/Def Jam for their forthcoming new album, tentatively titled, "Soulfly III: Enterfaith".

Keep It Rochalicious

Former Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha is heavily rumored to be making a guest appearance on the upcoming new effort from Blackalicious, "Blazing Arrow". The album, due out on April 30th, will also feature guest appearances from DJ Shadow, Chali 2na and Cut Chemist of Jurrasic 5, ?uestlove of the Roots, Miho Hatori of Cibo Matto, Saul Williams and more. In related news, little is still known about De la Rocha's upcoming solo effort for Epic, aside from him having done eight songs with Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, five with Roots drummer ?uestlove and collaborations with both DJ Premier of Gang Starr fame and El-P formerly of Company Flow. No release date has been set for the effort as of yet.

Tip Your Glassjaw

An mp3 of a new Glassjaw track entitled, "Bartender", (also known as "Tip Your Bartender") has made its way online. The band have decided to make the track available through an AOL Instant Messenger bot, made by the same people behind Radiohead's recent AOL Instant Messenger bot. To access the track, just open AOL Instant Messenger and IM the screen name "InKonKdugonK", after which you will be provided with a link to download the track. Fans of the band are encouraged to add the name to their buddy list as more updates and features will be added to the bot in the coming weeks. For those who don't have Instant Messenger, the track can alternately be downloaded here. In the meantime, the track itself is set to show up on the bands upcoming new album, "Worship And Tribute", which is currently eyeing a June release through I AM/Warner. In related news, Glassjaw frontman Daryl Palumbo has been joining Alien Ant Farm on stage recently to perform a cover of the Bad Brains classic, "Gene Machine". In Memory Of Kurt Cobain
Kurt Cobain's private memoirs are going to be auctioned off for publication. The 800-page manuscript, organized by none other than Courtney Love, is to be looked at by some New York publishers and is expected to sell for several million dollars. Publishers were asked to sign confidentiality agreements before viewing the documents. The book based on these documents, called The Autobiography of Kurt Cobain, is expected by many to make a huge contribution to rock memorabilia. No word on when the memoirs will be auctioned off. According to The Times paper, the late Nirvana frontman's memoirs include writings about his desire to be famous, his heroin addiction and his frequent bouts of depression. The memoirs also include Kurt's suicide note, which was written in red ink to Courtney, prior to his death in 1994.
Gee.. sellout on what little is left.. I hope he comes back and KILLS THEM ALL! *cough*

Michael Jackson's Movie Mania
Michael Jackson is investing in film. The gloved one's company, Neverland, has formed a partnership with Mark Damon's Montreal-based MDP Worldwide Entertainment Inc. film production company. The partnership, which cost MJ close to $20 million will help finance the making of classic stories into movies. Jackson's Neverland partner is movie producer Raju Sharad Patel, the man behind such classics as the Jungle Book and Pinocchio. Canadian Michael Jackson fans might be able to see the King of Pop in person because he plans to be on location for many of the film shoots, which will be happening in the True North. "I'm sure Canadians will see him," says Patel. "They should expect some very exciting movies coming out of this company."
He is coming to Canada? Keep the little boys inside!

R. Kelly Sex Tapes Surface
According to numerous entertainment news sites, a tape that allegedly shows R. Kelly having sex with an underaged girl has made its way to the streets of New York and onto a number of websites. Chicago police are currently investigating the contents of the tape. Although R. Kelly's lawyer insisted that no such videotape exists, the web sites are insisting that the contrary is true and are offering downloads of the footage, sometimes for a charge, in spite of the fact that it could be child pornography. A spokesperson for one of the web sites said they were posting the material to aid journalists and to prove that the footage actually does exist. Other sites are offering the footage to prove that Kelly's not the man involved in the tapes.
If Jon Davis (KoRn) wants to direct some porn... these guys should team up! *lol*

NME Awards Get Stroked
The Strokes won big at the NME Carling Awards, taking home the awards for Best New Act, Band of the Year and Album of the Year for Is This It. Meanwhile Australia's Kylie Minogue took home the Best Pop Act award while The Charlatans nabbed the statues for Outstanding Contribution to NME and Best Radio 1 Evening Session. Missy Elliott dominated the Best Hip-Hop/Rap Act category while U2 picked up the Best Live Act award for their Elevation Tour. Mis-teeq accepted the Best R&B/Soul Award on behalf of the late Aaliyah, who died in a plane crash last August.
Whatever...

Britney In 2-D
Last week we told you about a new video game called Britneys Dance Beat featuring Britney Spears that will be released on PlayStation 2, Game Boy Advance, PC and Mac in the spring. It seems that the pop princess spent hours having her body scanned for the new video game to ensure that her video game likeness is as close to the real thing as possible. Liz Pieri, of the game's manufacturer told the New York Daily News, "Britney's very protective of her image, but was quite pleased with our rendering," she said. "Her mum likes it too."
